ABSTRACT:
India is a diverse country with people from different backgrounds and income levels. In this setting, street food plays an important role, especially in cities like Nagpur, where numerous food stalls and small eateries can be seen in busy areas like Sitabuldi, Dharampeth, and Sadar. Street food refers to ready-to-eat snacks or drinks sold by vendors in public places. It is not only a part of daily life for many but also a cultural element seen across all parts of the country. Keeping good hygiene in these food stalls is very important for public health. Street food vending supports the economy in two ways. First, it gives work to many people who may not have the skills or education to get jobs in offices or factories. Second, it provides quick, affordable meals to a large number of people, especially students, workers, and travellers. But beyond what is visible, street vendors face several hidden challenges. This study focuses on the business side of street food vending in Nagpur and looks into the problems faced by local vendors in their daily operations.
