ABSTRACT:
The role of agro processing industries is very important in the development of the rural sector and in generating employment in the Indian economy. In the present study, the financial and sustainability aspects of the dal mills and oil mills in the Amravati district of Maharashtra are analyzed by adopting the comparative study approach based on primary data from 200 surveys units along secondary data. From the study, it is concluded that the profitability and sustainability of the dal mills are relatively higher and are associated with lower risk levels in comparison to oil mills. The dal mills are associated with relatively more stability in the market and relatively lower fluctuations in the prices of raw materials whereas the oil mills are associated with more instability and are more prone to financial shock. The dal mills are associated with relatively more stability in the market and relatively lower fluctuations in the price of raw materials whereas the oil mills are associated with more instability and are more prone to financial shocks. Both the dal mills and oil mills are associated with technological constraints that affect the long-term sustainability of these agro processing industries.
